On the Benefits of Providing Timely Information in Ticket Queues with Balking and Calling Times

We study a phenomenon causing server time loss in ticket queues with balking and calling time. A customer who balks from the queue after printing leaves virtual entity that requires to be cleared. The longer queue, larger proportion of customers abandoning their place, due left queue. solution is suggested by giving best possible estimate her expected waiting before ticket, thus ensuring that, if she balks, no number created will waste Although partially observable have been studied literature, addition for absent creates new type problem has observed real life but not formally addressed yet. analyze this stochastic system, formulate its steady state probabilities, calculate system’s performance measures. analytical provided here robust can applied wide range customers’ behavior functions.
